Specialties

  • Have you had difficulties with previous children, or maybe want a solid personalized education on breastfeeding before birth? A prenatal consult will help get a plan in place and have education tailored to you.

  • If you are in pain with breastfeeding, then something is wrong! Even if your latch looks perfect to everyone else, if you are in pain, then there is something we can fix. Your comfort while breastfeeding matters, and I take what a mother says seriously.

  • Do you wonder if your baby has a tongue tie? Has someone said there’s a “little bit” of a tie? There are many misconceptions about tongue ties. I have extensive knowledge and experience helping families navigate ties, including completion of the Masterclass from Jennifer Tow, IBCLC

  • Will your baby just not feed at the breast? Whether your infant is a few days old, to year and beyond, we can find the root cause of breast refusal and work towards baby being back to breast.

  • If your baby has slow or no weight gain, there is a cause. Instead of giving a blanket statement of “just give formula”, I look at what is causing the weight issues, and refer out to doctors as needed. Supplementation does not always mean formula is required, your own milk can often be used as well.

  • Do you have chronic or acute breast inflammation? I take a holistic approach to treating various breast inflammation to stop reoccurrence.

  • I am not here only for breastfeeding families! If your baby is having any difficulties with bottle feeding, or you are struggling to find the right bottle for your baby, I can help. There will never be any shame from me if you choose to use a bottle. My job is to help you meet your goals!

  • I am able to help navigate all the issues that can arise when going back to work: switching between pumping and feeding at breast, troubleshooting how to logistically pump while at work, and laws pertaining to your right to express milk. Go back to work confident!

  • Is your milk supply fading fast? Are you having a hard time juggling all the different recommendations from moms online? There are many reasons why milk supply can fall short. I will do an extensive history for both mother and baby to find the cause and help maximize supply.

  • Are you an adoptive parent that wishes to breastfeed? There are many options to give you that special connection with your baby. Book a consult early in the adoption process for the best outcomes.

  • If you are the surrogate, or the family receiving the gift of surrogacy, I can help with the decision and logistics of how baby will be fed.

  • Recommendations have changed a lot over the years. (Rice cereal at 4 months is a thing of the past!) Book a consult to go over pros and cons of different methodologies for starting solids and we will come up with a plan that will work best for you and your family.

  • Is it time for your breastfeeding journey to be over? Contact me if you need help navigating closing this chapter of parenthood.

  • We often go into Motherhood with an idea of what our birth will be like, how our baby will be, and how our feeding experience will go. Sometimes things just don’t go to plan, despite our best efforts. I always give space for the grief in difficult circumstances whether it is from a current or past breastfeeding journey.

  • If your baby has passed, or is expected to pass, there are many options available for what will work best for your family. Drying up milk, milk donation, milk remembrance keepsakes, etc will be discussed. Neutral decorating is throughout the office and additional time before and after your appointment can be added to give you space to grieve.

Angel Sharp, IBCLC

First and foremost my job as your lactation consultant is to be your guide. I firmly believe that it is truly the parents’ decision on how to care for their baby, and not every family will flourish with the same tools or have the same goals. My job is to help provide evidence based care and create a plan as a team to meet your goals, whether it is breast or bottle feeding. I am happy to offer both holistic and western based care. Whether you had a planned c-section, or free birthed your baby, all are welcome. I am trauma informed and have completed training for those who have had difficult pasts. I will never touch you or your baby without your consent and we can absolutely find a way to meet your goals without being touched. Birth can be a vulnerable time, and I am sensitive to how the past can come up during this transition.

I have been working with infants and mothers since 2011, and have seen a wide range of normal, as well as complex cases you will likely only see once in a career. In 2019, I graduated from OHSU-PSU School of Public Health with degrees in Public Health Education, Health Sciences, and a certificate in Human Lactation. I also completed the pathway 2 IBCLC program through OHSU-PSU (one of only 10 programs in the nation) allowing me to sit for the IBCLC exam. That same year, I passed boards to be an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). This means that I am able to care for the most complex cases, and am able to bill and be reimbursed by insurance.

I am the mother to 7 children (yes, I birthed and breastfed all 7, and we also homeschool). My husband, children, and I live on a hobby ranch with chickens, ducks, turkeys, steers, a milking cow, cats, pigs, and dogs (oh my!). In my free time, I enjoy gardening, baking, hiking, cross country skiing, and living life with my family.

is learning about strengths

you didn’t know you had…

and dealing with

fears you didn’t know existed.”
